In August 2023,
Advanced Tech Software (ATS) set out not just to support South Africa’s e-waste
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance—but to rewrite the rules
entirely.
We listened. To
producers navigating costly, rigid systems. To recyclers waiting on delayed
payments and fragmented reporting. And to informal recycling communities sidelined from the
circular economy. Over three years and dozens of iterations, we co-developed
DARE (Digital Assistant for Recycling E-waste)—a traceability engine that
thinks in real time, acts with precision, and connects stakeholders directly.
But DARE was only the
beginning.
On May 25, 2025, ATS
launched E-WasteLink, a radically transparent, tech-enabled compliance
model designed to break the bottlenecks of outdated PRO structures. Built for
producers. Powered by recyclers. Auditable by design. And fiercely committed to
social equity, job creation, and local empowerment.
